Natural Fiber Cotton Hammocks

Most everything in the world around us is evolving. Everything changes with time, most things for the better. Technology provides us with many conveniences and improvements on old habits and products. Materials such as plastic have made our lives much easier in many ways, but sometimes the old ways are even better.

When it comes to something like a hammock there are a variety of different materials it can be made out of these days. Some are valued for their resistance to water, such as nylon hammocks; others are used because they prevent insects from biting through them. Still others are considered to be very breathable.

Cotton hammocks are, of course, probably the most breathable type there is. Cotton is a durable material that is all natural and allows air to pass through and is therefore in many ways considered ideal for use in making hammocks.

Cotton hammocks might be made from cotton fabrics or rope. Both kinds have that breathable quality and are soft to the touch as well as being gentle on the skin and fairly easy to maintain.

Because cotton absorbs water it might seem that it would not be the best choice for use in making a hammock, but this is not necessarily true. If your hammock will remain outside for long periods of time in a wet climate, cotton is definitely not the best option, however, if you use bring it indoors regularly or use it when you travel cotton is a great choice.

There are many different kinds of cotton fabric you can find hammocks made out of. Canvas is the sturdiest and is what is used in naval hammocks, but lighter fabrics are also available that might be a bit more flexible and lighter.

Cotton can be made in a wide variety of colors and many of the fabrics used for hammocks are made of brightly colored cloth. They are arranged in many different patterns and you can find one that suits your personal taste or that will look nice in the setting it will be in.

A great thing about cotton hammocks is that they are easy to wash. You can bring them down and wash them in your washing machine if necessary. Also, you can treat the material to make it more resistant to stains and even water, causing it to be less likely to grow mold or mildew.

There are a wide variety of cotton hammocks to choose from. If you want a hammock that is light and breathable that you can remove and wash, a cotton fabric hammock is a great choice, and a cotton rope hammock is good for all types of weather. The natural fibers are better for the environment and better for the person enjoying some time in the hammock, too.
